As we announced earlier this year, the website “Bulgarian Illustration” and the Sofia Library have signed a cooperation agreement to organize and hold the National Biennial of Bulgarian Illustration. This event will mark two anniversaries in 2018 – Sofia Library celebrates its 90th anniversary, and Bulgarian illustration celebrates 50 years since the first national exhibition. It is time to provide a little more clarity about the organization, the collection of works, and the upcoming exhibition.
We will be waiting for you every Wednesday (from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM) and Saturday (from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM) in the “Art” sector in the central building of the library (Slaveykov Square, 4).

Biennale of Illustration 2018
Organized by the website "Bulgarian Illustration" and the Sofia Library
October 24 - November 10, 2018
Conditions for participation:
No age restrictions.
There are no restrictions on media, technique and style, theme or purpose of the illustrations. Both originals and prints are accepted.
The works must have been created in the last two years (2016-2018)
Image format up to 25x35 cm
Up to 3 works per author are accepted
In case the illustration is part of a realized publication, it is advisable to submit a copy of the publication (book, brochure, project, etc.)
The works must be submitted in a ready-to-exhibit form (framed; glass and passe-partout are not mandatory, at the discretion of the author)
The works are accepted in the following two categories:
unrealized/unpublished works
realized/published works
Deadline:
The works will be collected from September 1 to 29. Online applications/works can be submitted earlier, this will not affect the selection.
Acceptance of works:
A representative of the website "Bulgarian Illustration" and/or the Sofia Library will be waiting for you every Wednesday (from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM) and Saturday (from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM) in the "Art" sector in the central building of the library (Slaveykov Square No. 4)

Authors applying from abroad can send their works to the e-mail milena@bulgarian-illustration.com. A participation form and additional conditions for submitting the works in original/print will be sent to the e-mail address provided by them.
Awards
One award will be awarded in each category, as well as an award for overall contribution.

The names of the jury and the exact dates of the jury and announcement of participants will be announced in September.
