Around 1,500 illustrations from 26 countries around the world have entered this year’s online competition of the 7th Bookill Fest Book Illustration Festival – Serbia. The jury, consisting of Slobodan Ivkov (President), Sibilla Petendzhi Arbutina and Senka Vlahovic, has selected the illustrations of 120 authors for the exhibition and awarded authors from eight countries in the categories of poetry and prose, children’s books and books illustrated with photographs. The award ceremony and opening of the exhibition will take place on June 2, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at the Gallery of the Batal Cultural Center in Novo Miloševo (Serbia).

Among the awardees, we also find the name of the Bulgarian artist Kapka Kaneva, who receives an award in the category for the best photo-illustrated book. She participated with two of her works, "Walking on Tiptoes", by Željko Ivanković, "Panorama" Publishing House, Sofia, 2016, and "Before the Devil Took Me Away" by Stevan Tontić, "Ergo" Publishing House, Sofia, 2017.

In addition to the exhibition of selected illustrations, a visiting exhibition "Awards of the Biennial of Illustration Bratislava 2017" will be opened, in cooperation with the International House of Art for Children "Bibiana" from Bratislava (Slovakia) and the "Babka" Gallery Foundation from Konovica (Serbia).

The "Bookill Fest" festival is being held for the seventh time and is organized by the Cultural Center "Banat" and the Novi Sad Fair. This year, in addition to the festival program, which traditionally takes place in Novi Sad, a program will be held in Novo Miloševo for the first time. The first part of the events took place in March this year at the Novi Sad Book Fair.

The exhibition of selected and awarded illustrations, which will open on June 2 in Novo Miloševo, will also be exhibited at the next book fair in Novi Sad in March 2019.
