The exhibition “HISTORY IN PORTRAITS: 40 Women Who Changed Bulgaria” presents works, many of which were created to be included in the publication “I am Bulgarian: 40 Stories, 40 Portraits” by Petya Alexandrova (Siela, 2019).
In the exhibition, the portraits are separated from their literary context and come to life independently, as visual narratives. Their authors set themselves the task of bringing us closer to the captivating and controversial, exciting and astonishing, revered and hated female characters who have marked the history of our country and have given us the right to determine and create our future today.
The artists who participated in the project create in practically all areas of the visual arts – painting, graphics, sculpture, illustration, design, ceramics, contemporary art.
