On March 22, 2017, the documentary exhibition "Hemus Publishing House and its Owner" was opened in the Marble Lobby of the Sofia Library. It presents books from the library's collection, published by Hemus. Sofia Library owns half of all the books that the publishing house has produced in its long-term work (1918-1947). Visitors can see some of them and get acquainted with the personality of the co-founder, editor and long-time director of the publishing house - Hristo T. Hadzhiev. The exhibition is based on the idea of his heirs, and a large part of the books that the library exhibits are original editions from the beginning of the last century.
Among the artists who worked for the large publishing house are some of the biggest names in Bulgarian illustration, such as Vadim Lazarkevich ("Wild Bulbs" by Dora Gabe), Georgi Atanasov ("Unborn Maiden" by Ran Bosilek - won the Shoemaker Prize in 1932 at the Second International Exhibition in Brussels), Sirak Skitnik ("Bulgarian Ballads" by Teodor Trayanov - 1921), Alexander Zhendov ("Winter Evenings" by Hristo Smirnenski - 1924) and others, as well as the magazines "Zlatorogy" and "Detska radost".
