Stubel Gallery begins its autumn exhibition program with a walk in a more episodically arresting artistic zone of the audience - that of illustration and the art of the book. The exhibition is called "Three Stories+" and its author is Viktor Paunov, an illustrator well-known and recognizable both in his professional environment and in that of those tempted by the charm of the illustrated book.
"Three Stories+" because this is the number of images of recently published or upcoming titles for children, intriguing, informative and entertaining enough in themselves - "The Bible for Children from 7 to 77 Years Old" by Arthur Maxwell (published by "New Life"), "The Cat Frant and the Mysterious Island" by Ivan Radenkov (published by "Enthusiast") and "The Tale of the Hedgehog Izmishlyotkin..." by Asen Sirakov (published by "Atea").
The value of this exhibition, captivating with a relatively unusual for book illustration transfer of imagery from printed pages to the space of an art gallery, is also measured in the opportunity to peek into the world of the "workshop" of the art of illustration. Because its author, Viktor Paunov, in addition to being one of the most active contemporary Bulgarian illustrators, is also a professor at the National Academy of Arts, as well as a former head of the "Book, Illustration and Printed Graphics" department. This makes him responsible to the audience not only in terms of his own work, but also as a guardian of a rich tradition, transmitting over time the potential of new generations of artists in this area so important for the visual culture of society.
