It's September! And in September everyone goes to school in one way or another. That's why we will dedicate this month to illustrators who draw textbooks. For this purpose, we contacted one of the largest publishing houses in the industry - Prosveta, to introduce its artists.
Albena Kamenova
Education: National Academy of Arts, majoring in Book and Printed Graphics.
Professional experience: Freelance artist in the field of graphic design, cover design and illustrations.
Illustrated works: Educational series "Wonderful World" for kindergartens - Prosveta Publishing House); Mathematics 3-4; 4-5; 6-7 (Prosveta Publishing House), Environmental World 3-4, 4-5, 6-7 (Prosveta Publishing House), "Circles, Dashes - Alphabet for Everyone", author Yuliana Karakasheva, published by Fyt.
Favorite illustrator: I like so many and different in style. As a child, I loved the illustrations of Santen, Gianni Benveduti. Now I adore the illustrations of Sven Nordqvist. I like his imagination, the stories that make me smile and the great characters of Petson and Findus. I also like contemporary Bulgarian illustrators: Viktor Paunov, Yasen Gyuzelev, Antonia Mechkueva and many more wonderful and even more wonderful ones 🙂
Favorite illustrated book? "Tales from Foggy Albion" with illustrations by Vladislav Erko. I love it because this fairy-tale nature in the illustrations takes me back to childhood. Back then, I imagined the world this way and if I could, I would dress like that and speak in verse.
Which book do you dream of illustrating? I would like to illustrate books for the smallest curious eyes. I love the world of children and I like to tease them with a wink through illustration.
