Sofia Comic Expo / 2022 is the fruit of the efforts of the COMICS Section of the Union of Bulgarian Artists and the "Rainbow Project" Association. Active Bulgarian comic artists working in the country and abroad will participate in it. The exhibition will show the development of these artists over the past few years. Drawn stories are as old as the world and in a sense they gave birth to writing. Modern comics are a type of literature, a convenient way to tell a story in a way different from all other ways. There are no restrictions on genre and style, but as in any literature, skills, imagination and taste are important. The combination of good text and appropriate graphics is difficult to achieve, which is why truly good stories in pictures are much less than good books in other types of literature.

It is gratifying that more and more Bulgarian publishing houses understand the importance of illustrated stories and publish comics. It is no coincidence that some of these books have been awarded national awards in various categories. Comics have developed enormously in recent years and have almost nothing in common with the comic stories of the early twentieth century. This exhibition will prove this and show that the Bulgarian comic culture is alive.
