The National Children's Book Festival in Sliven is being postponed to June, Rositsa Petrova, director of the Sava Dobroplodni regional library, which is organizing the cultural forum, told a BTA reporter. So instead of May 11-13, the festival will take place from June 9-11.

The reason for the postponement is the restrictions related to the spread of COVID-19, as the organizers set reserve dates for the festival at the beginning of the year. In 2020, the cultural event took place in September. Petrova explained that preparations are in an advanced stage, and the program and advertising materials containing the dates are about to be printed. She expressed hope that guests from abroad will not have a problem with restrictions due to the coronavirus, as a large part of them have been vaccinated.

What is different about this year's 23rd edition is that in addition to live events, which will be mainly outdoors, there will also be online events, as well as a digital presentation of what is happening. According to Petrova, interest in the festival is growing, and there is a strong participation of children from Bulgarian communities abroad in the competitions.
The annual festival is an initiative of the Sava Dobroplodni Regional Library in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, Sliven Municipality, Sliven Regional Administration, Bulgarian Book Association, etc.
