The selection of the "Illustrators Exhibition of Bologna Children Book Fair 2021"

This year, we hope, the 58th edition of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair will be held. We still have no information whether there will definitely be a book fair in Bologna this year, but the organizers are definitely working as if nothing is happening in the world. And we, as organizers of the Biennale of Illustration 2020, which you all know in what conditions it was held, fully understand the difficult and difficult task that is set before the entire fair team. We are keeping our fingers crossed that everything will be fine, that we will have a fair, and that our team will manage to get to it. But, let’s not get carried away, here is what is happening in Bologna this week – the illustrators who made it into the final selection for one of the most prestigious exhibitions in our world – the one during the fair – were announced.

The jury of the "Illustrators Exhibition of Bologna Children Book Fair 2021" consisting of Beatrice Alemagna (Italy), Atak (Germany), Suzanne Carnell (United Kingdom), Kiyoko Matsuoka (Japan) and Maria Russo (USA) had the difficult task of selecting the finalists. This year, the organizers also published the long list of admitted artists, which you can see below in the article, and there you will also find one Bulgarian name. A total of 77 participants from a total of 23 countries are included in the final list.

Here is the list of the 303 selected illustrators from a total of 3,235 artists, who arrived from 68 countries. Fortunately, we also find a familiar name! Ina Hristova, whom we hope many of you know, is on the longlist, but is registered as a participant from Mexico. In the list of applicants for this year's selection, we also find ten Bulgarian names – Stefana Argirova, Grigor Grigorov, Maria Kalcheva, Vessela Kucheva, Kalina Muhova, Anelia Pashova, Milena Radeva, Maria Stoeva, Milena Simeonova, Mihaela Karadjova.

Traditionally, we upload the works of each of the authors, which you can view in the album on our Facebook page. We leave you to enjoy the illustrators for 2021 and await the results of the other competitions and exhibitions in Bologna.
