On October 23, 2018, Bulgarian Illustration and the Sofia Library opened the first edition of the long-defunct Biennial of Illustration. The exhibition, which includes works by 104 authors, was part of the program on the occasion of the library's 90th anniversary. The exhibition was visited by more than 250 guests, who had the opportunity to view 110 works by contemporary Bulgarian illustrators working in the country and abroad. The space was also complemented by a retrospective selection of works by masters from the first Biennial of Illustration in 1968, such as Borislav Stoev, Evgeni Bosyatski, Alexander Denkov, Lyuben Dimanov, Lyuben Zidarov, Ivan Kyosev, Ivan Kirkov and many others. The Bulgarian Illustration website presented three awards in the field of illustration – sculptures by sculptor Iliya Boyarov. In the category "Unrealized Work" the prize went to Veselka Velinova, for "Realized Work" - Siyana Zaharieva and for "Total Creativity" - Yasen Gyuzelev. The exhibition will last until November 10, 2018.

And we would like to thank Mrs. Tsinzova - Director of the Sofia Library for her hospitality and support, as well as ALL the artists-illustrators who created this event, because without their works the biennial cannot exist. We also thank everyone who in one way or another helped us create this exhibition, and last but not least, the Midalidare Eastate winery and the Aruna PR agency for their partnership.

We have started to arrange plans for the next edition in 2020, for which we already have inquiries.

Thank you!
