Yesterday (March 16, 2017) Katya Kirilova defended her doctoral dissertation on the topic: “The Changing Model of Contemporary Children’s Book Publishing in Bulgaria”. Katya is one of the researchers of children’s books, whose texts we find not only in scientific conferences and collections, but are also known to many from the website “Children’s Books”. Her dissertation covers the development of children’s book publishing in Bulgaria from the period of the Revival to the present day. Particularly valuable, as noted by the scientific jury, is the last – third chapter, in which book publishing in Bulgaria from 1990 to 2016 is thoroughly researched, periodized and analyzed based on data from the National Statistical Institute and the National Register of Books Published in Bulgaria at the National ISBN Agency. Bulgarian illustrators also found a place in her work.
