Stanimira Petrova

Date and place of birth: April 1979, Chirpan

Education: Bachelor of Philosophy

Professional experience: I have been a philosophy teacher, a graphic designer and now a freelance illustrator. I think I have finally found my thing.

Exhibitions: I had my last exhibitions years ago as a student. After that I had a long period in which I did not paint. I was a philosophy teacher and this drained a lot of my energy and inspiration. And everyone around me was convinced that “painting” was fun, but not “something serious”.

Illustrated works:

The calendars and cards of “Tea Stories”

“Bu the Monster Loves to Eat”

Favorite illustrator: Susan Branch (who inspired me for the calendar), Ralitsa Manuilova, Yasen Gyuzelev, Inge Löök, Yasen Grigorov, Axel Scheffler and many more. I have several folders on Pinterest that are constantly being filled.

Favorite illustrated book? It would be very difficult for me to stop at one. Let's say that at the moment my favorite are the illustrations by Axel Scheffler (the story with Gruzulaka, “Patila on the Broomstick”). I am addicted to beautiful illustrations. I have even bought books just for the pictures, when the text is under all kinds of criticism.

What book do you dream of illustrating? I don't have a specific dream. Some fairy tale, with fairies, witches, talking teapots.
