The National Museum of Natural History and the Society of Animalists, Florists and Scientific Illustrators present “The Wild World through the Eyes of a Zoologist, Animal Artist and Photographer”
The exhibition brings together the work of Assen Ignatov in the field of scientific illustration – sketch drawings made in the wild, watercolors and pen and ink drawings, as well as photographs of wildlife.
Assen is an illustrator of many books, scientific, periodicals such as the Red Book of Bulgaria, Atlas of Nesting Birds in Bulgaria, Waterfowl of the Burgas Lakes, Atlas of Poisonous Plants in Bulgaria, etc. The exhibition will also see many of his applied projects – calendars, popular science publications, posters.

The exhibition is part of the series of exhibitions with scientific illustrations initiated by DAPHNI, which will be opened this month at RIM-Sofia and NPM-BAS.
Assen Ignatov was born in 1968. He graduated from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” – majoring in biologist-ornithology. He has been working at the National Museum of Natural History-BAS since 2006. He is a specialized guide for alternative tourism, an artist and wildlife photographer, one of the finalists of “Birdwatch Artist of the Year” 2002.
