The Frankfurt Book Fair has issued an official statement regarding the war in Ukraine.

In light of the current armed conflict in Europe, we are particularly concerned about the many colleagues we know personally in Ukraine.

“Ukraine has the right to peace!” says the Board of Trustees of the German Book Trade Peace Prize and the Börsenverein group, to which the Frankfurter Buchmesse belongs, and calls for an end to the deliberate destruction of peace and freedom in Europe.

Dear colleagues who are directly at risk in this conflict, our thoughts are with you.

Best wishes to all readers

The Bologna Book Fair also stood in support of Ukraine and spoke out against Russia's actions.

The Bologna Children’s Book Fair and its associated brands would like to express their condemnation of the Russian aggression in Ukraine. BCBF can confirm that cooperation with all Russian state institutions responsible for the organization of the Russian collective stand at the upcoming fair is being terminated with immediate effect.

BCBF, BolognaBookPlus and Bologna Licensing Trade Fair have been and continue to support the Ukrainian Publishers Association and will continue to promote their books, illustrators and writers in their absence at this year’s event.

Books for all ages remain a bridge between cultures and the children’s publishing industry has never been more important.

The website "Bulgarian Illustration" cannot remain indifferent to what is happening in Ukraine. On February 24, 2022, Russia attacked the sovereignty of a European country - Ukraine. The world saw with its own eyes what the terror of war means. But neither the world, nor Europe, nor we can stand by and watch indifferently, because today Ukraine is the world that is fighting for justice. And in order to have a world without war, we at "Bulgarian Illustration" appeal: do not be afraid of children's books that talk about the topic of war, because tomorrow, these books may save lives.
