The Chairman of the Bulgarian Book Association - Vesselin Todorov, the Mayor of Sofia - Yordanka Fandakova, Deputy Minister of Culture - Amelia Gesheva and the Director of the "National Book Center" - Mihaela Petrova opened this year's "Spring Book Bazaar" together with special guests Stefka Kostadinova and Valentin Yordanov.

The Mayor of Sofia expressed her joy that this year the Sofia Municipality is a partner of the event and that it opens on the eve of the brightest Bulgarian holiday - May 24. "Sofia is a reading city. Book events are held in Sofia every day," she said, and for the next 6 days during the bazaar alone, there will be 55 of them! Yordanka Fandakov invited everyone who has the opportunity and time to visit the Spring Bazaar and buy a book for themselves, relatives and friends, and most importantly, for their children. Amelia Gesheva emphasized that the program of the government and the ministry will actively work on cooperation between publishers, libraries and schools. Mihaela Petrova invited the audience and guests of the bazaar to join the art space that the National Palace of Culture currently represents, referring to the paper installations in the lobby and the graffiti that greets readers at the entrance. At the end of his speech, Vesselin Todorov announced that he would soon no longer be the Chairman of the Board of Directors of "ABK" and that structural changes were coming to the association.

Despite the many renovations and restructuring of the exhibition spaces, the fair was held this year as well. There are exactly 100 exhibitors, despite the inconveniences created, most of the stands are in familiar places for readers. A huge exception is the stand (№115) of the Softpress publishing house, which this time is positioned on the mezzanine opposite the main stage, where the main part of the cultural program will take place. Another surprise this year is the stand (№B19) of the Az Cheta website, which also offers its program during the bazaar. Among the names in the field of illustration are Damyan Damyanov, who will speak today (May 23) on the topic "Draw me a book", as well as Maya Bocheva, who will tell more about her work on her digital game books on May 25 and 28. You can find the entire Az Cheta program here.

We remind you that tomorrow (May 24) at 2:00 PM is the opening of the exhibition "Under the Language", and we will also follow the other events during the bazaar.
