“This year, we hope, it will take place…”

This is how the article about Bologna in 2021 began, alas, the fair did not take place, so this year we will only think about it and say nothing! The 59th edition of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair has already announced the selected illustrators for the final selection of one of the most prestigious exhibitions in our world – the one during the fair.

The jury of the “Illustrators Exhibition of Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2022” consisting of Barroux (illustrator and author, France), Nana Furiya (illustrator and author, Japan), Agata Loth-Ignaciuk (founder of Druganoga publishing house, Poland), Irene Savino (graphic designer, illustrator and art director of Ediciones Ekaré, Venezuela) and Valerio Vidali (illustrator and author, Italy) had the difficult task of choosing the finalists from among 3,873 artists and 19,365 works. You can see the artists who made it to the final evaluation at the end of the article below, and you will also find three Bulgarian names in the list – Vyara Boyadzhieva, Ina Hristova and Mira Miroslavova, who unfortunately did not make it to the final selection.
